Played and collected by big names in the music industrie like David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler & Chet Atkins. I’ve been in contact with Gibson and they say that this celebrity presumably is an early prototype since it also had another label and is not numbered. The normally did this if a guitar had a slight flaw/imperfection. It was not uncommon for Gibson to do that in the 70’s/80’s. But not this one.,this one is special! It is not numbered like the other’s and it has a “SEC” stamp on the back of the headstock. All of these guitars were numbered 1 to 90. The Gibson J-200 Celebrity was a limited run of 90 guitars. The outershell of the case does show signs of use. All the latches on the case are intact, so is the handle. The guitar also comes with the original case and a period correct catalog which came with the guitar. It does show signs of normal use, has a few nicks & dings and shows signs of finish checking which is normal for guitars this age. The instrument itself is in good condition. This is also one of the most sought-after Gibson acoustics and with only 90 ever produced, an incredibly rare instrument!
